Sinus Facts
- Sinus infection may be caused by anything that interferes with airflow into the sinuses and the drainage of mucous out of the sinuses.
- The sinus openings may be obstructed by anything which causes swelling of the tissue lining and adjacent nasal passage tissue, for example colds, allergies, and tissue irritants.
- Sinus infection may be classified in at least two ways, based on the time span of the problem (acute, subacute, or chronic ) and the type of inflammation (either infectious or noninfectious).
- The drainage of mucous from the sinuses can be impaired by thickening of the mucous secretions, by decrease in hydration (water content) of the mucous brought on by disease

First, we should know what sinusitis is and what are the common symptoms of it. Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (with Balloon Sinuplasty™ technology)
The technology utilizes a small, flexible, Sinus Balloon that is placed into the nose to reach the sinuses. The Sinus Balloon is gradually inflated to gently restructure the previously blocked sinus opening which helps to restore normal sinus drainage and function. There is minimal bleeding, and many patients have been able to return to normal activities within 24 hours. Clinical research has indicated that the Balloon Sinuplasty™ system is a safe and effective instrument in dilating blocked sinuses. |
